Events and Collaborations
Faculty of Information Studies annually organizes several scientific meetings geared towards networking and dissemination at local and international level.
We annully organize International Conference on Information Technologies and Information Society (ITIS). The core scientific scope of ITIS events are the applications of computing and IT, particularly in social sciences. The conference also covers a wider range of topics including complex systems, bioinformatics, graph theory and optimization, computational modeling, business and industrial processes, decision and information systems and IT security. It is a major scientific forum in the region and the main scientific event in our Faculty. In past years, we attracted invited speakers from Oxford, Imperial College, Notre Dame and other major world-class universities. 10th ITIS will took place at FIS on 26th October 2018.
Summer school and Winter camp
For all those who want to further deepen their IT knowledge we organize summer and winter schools and camps intended for students at all levels. Some past topics were computer networks, databases, cloud computing and app programming. These activities typically involve 1-2 invited speakers along with several workshops and round tables on current scientific and research issues.
Informatics conference of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina
In cooperation with the Section for Information Technology within the framework of the Chamber of Commerce Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, we annually participate in the Informatics conference of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina.
At the start of each study year we organize Introduction Week for all new students. They attend workshops and presentations with some practical information about study process, employment options and research activities at FIS. Each year we also take students to educational trip, where they learn about IT practices from abroad and at the same time visit some local sights. We have already been to Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy and Belgium.
