Yesterday, 16 October, we opened our doors for a tour of our own HPC Trdina supercomputer as part of the Open Day of Slovenian Supercomputing Centres. The event was attended in large numbers by students from the Novo mesto School Centre and all interested individuals, who were welcomed by our Dean, Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič, who introduced them to our faculty and study programmes.

The Head of the Supercomputing, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Laboratory, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Biljana Mileva Boshkoska, gave a detailed presentation on how Slovenia, with its expertise, investment in infrastructure and use of powerful systems, plays an important role in the development of supercomputing. A practical demonstration of the use of the Trdina supercomputer gave visitors a better insight into the technologies themselves and the development of supercomputing in Slovenia.

In the last part of the presentation, visitors were also invited to take a closer look at the Trdina supercomputer, and all those present and eager for knowledge were also invited to the next Supercomputers Open Day, which will take place again next year.
