With the publication of the Statutes of the University of Novo mesto, the Faculty of Information Studies has officially become a member of the new public University of Novo mesto.

Following the deletion of the private University of Novo mesto from the court registry on June 30, 2026, the public University of Novo mesto was entered into the court registry on July 1, 2026. Following prior approval at a meeting of the provisional senate on July 7, 2026, the Governing Board of the University of Novo mesto adopted the Statutes of the University of Novo mesto, thereby completing an important step in the establishment of the new public university.

With the entry into force of the Statutes, the official name of the faculty has also changed; it is now the University of Novo mesto, Faculty of Information Studies (UNM FIS).

The faculty remains an independent legal entity, or a public higher education institution; at the same time, it will carry out its publicly funded activities—including the provision of degree programs and publicly funded research—within the framework of the University of Novo mesto, in accordance with the regulations applicable to public universities. The integration of the Faculty of Information Studies into the University of Novo mesto represents a significant milestone in its development and a further strengthening of high-quality higher education, research, and collaboration with the business sector and the broader social environment.
