After reviewing the nominations received, the Election Commission has drawn up a list of candidates for the first rector election at the public University of Novo mesto.

As dean, he has contributed in recent years to the faculty’s development, its integration into the new public university, and the shaping of its future development environment.

In his work program for his term as rector, he presents a vision for the development of the University of Novo mesto, which includes strengthening the university’s quality and visibility, developing academic and research activities, fostering connections with the local community, and further establishing the university’s position within the Slovenian and international higher education landscape.

“The establishment of the public University of Novo mesto is an important developmental milestone for the city, the region, and the broader higher education landscape. We are entering a period in which we will need to lay a solid foundation for the university while simultaneously creating the conditions for its long-term development and recognition,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič upon announcing his candidacy.
