The Nahtigal Awards Council awarded five Nahtigal Awards for 2022, and among the recipients of the prize for research achievements and innovation work is also our lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Borut Lužar.

Based on the applications received and the Nahtigal Awards Regulations, the Nahtigal Awards Council has decided to award five Nahtigal Awards, namely one award in the category of Recognition of mentoring work with young people, one award in the category of Recognition of research work with young people, and three awards in the category of Recognition of research achievements and innovation work. Fort the year 2022 six applications were received for the Nahtigal Awards.

The Nahtigal Awards for 2022 were presented at the DAP Academic Evening on Wednesday, 8 November 2023, at Gostišča na trgu, Glavni trg 30, 8000 Novo mesto.

The 2022 awards were presented to:

In the category Mentoring work with young people:

g. Marko Rudolf, Rudolfovo Public Research Institute, for organising and conducting robotics and computer science workshops as part of the additional programme at primary schools in Dolenjska and Bela krajina from 2018 onwards.

In the category of Youth Research Awards:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maja Borlinič Gačnik, Faculty of Tourism, University of Maribor, for her research work in the field of national and regional development of tourist destinations and promotion of young people’s scientific engagement through professional publications, lectures and interviews in the media.

In the category of Research Achievement and Innovation Awards:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dolores Modic, Rudolfovo Public Research Institute, for her research work and publications in leading scientific journals in the field of innovation and technology transfer.

Associate Prof. Dr. Borut Lužar, Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto, for research work and top scientific publications in the fields of classical graph theory, with emphasis on graph colouring theory, and complex network analysis.

Dr Krištof Debeljak, Rudolfovo Public Research Institute, for the social innovation LABTOP, which is a high-tech, automated mini-factory integrating most of the key technologies belonging to Industry 4.0. LABTOP is shared with local educational institutions, which run a regular educational programme in the laboratory, and is also available to companies and individuals.
