The Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto (FIS) organised a Computer Science and Web Technologies Competition for high school students on Friday, April 17, and a student Hackathon on Saturday, April 18.
At the Computer Science and Web Technologies Competition, students competed in two categories. In the first category, they competed in web technology skills (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and in the second category, they solved standard programming tasks in a selected programming language, prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Borut Lužar. The event was enriched by a lecture given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Blaž Rodič and concluded with a formal awards ceremony for the top participants.
In the web technologies category, the top three spots were taken by:
1st place: Marcel Dežman
2nd place: Aleksander Bernad
3rd place: Patrik Zajc
In the programming category, the best results were also achieved by:
1st place: Srečko Matjaž Berginc
2nd place: Gašper Selan
3rd place: Andraž Plevnik
The student-focused Hackathon took place on Saturday. Hackathon participants tackled programming challenges prepared for them by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenny Bešter Štorgel. After the competition concluded, the gathering continued in a pleasant atmosphere in Češča vas, where other students joined them. They concluded a day full of learning and networking with an awards ceremony for the top individual Hackathon participants:
