At the Faculty of Information Studies (FIS), we actively participate in the Eco-School program, which promotes sustainable thinking, responsible behaviour, and the integration of knowledge and action. To mark the 30th anniversary of the Eco-School program, a jubilee conference titled “30 Years of Change – 30 Years of Inspiration” was held on August 21, 2026, at Terme Čatež.

The event brought together coordinators, teachers, professors, principals, partners, and other representatives of educational institutions who, through their work, contribute to implementing the principles of sustainable development. Katja Uršič, head of the Eco-School project, and Neža Repanšek, a member of the FIS Eco-Committee, attended the conference on behalf of FIS.

The anniversary conference provided an opportunity to review the 30-year history of the Eco-School program in Slovenia and, above all, to look toward the future. Participants exchanged experiences and best practices and reflected on how knowledge, collaboration, and concrete actions can contribute to sustainable change.

The conference featured numerous sustainability stories and best-practice examples in reuse, waste reduction, biodiversity, energy, sustainable mobility, and other fields. A special guest at the anniversary event was the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar.

FIS joined the Eco-School program in 2024; by participating in its activities, we aim to strengthen sustainable and socially responsible practices at the faculty and raise awareness about the importance of a responsible attitude toward the environment.
