Our faculty was among the partners that successfully secured funding in the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking Call for Proposals in early March. The funds will support the acquisition of a new Slovenian supercomputer and the establishment of the Slovenian Artificial Intelligence Factory (also known as >>SLAIF).

The new infrastructure will also be co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, with funding provided by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation. Its aim is to provide businesses, the scientific community, and the public sector with cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the most advanced infrastructure optimised for AI development and application, taking both the Slovenian and European AI ecosystems to the next level.

Our faculty, together with other partners, will contribute to the development of digital competencies, interdisciplinary programmes, and the sustainable transfer of knowledge. Meanwhile, the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) will provide the expertise necessary for integrating AI into various industries. This project will put Slovenia at the forefront of Europe’s innovative transformation.

In addition to our faculty and the Jožef Stefan Institute, the project partners include IZUM, ARNES, University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor, University of Nova Gorica, University of Primorska, and the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia.
