The establishment of the public University of Novo mesto has reached a new significant milestone. An acting rector has been appointed to lead the next steps in the establishment and launch of the new public university. As of today, prof. dr. Janez Povh has been appointed to his position.

The appointment represents an important step toward the formal establishment of the university and the start of its operations. The acting rector’s primary task is to organize the initial procedures related to the establishment of the university, its entry into the court registry, and the formation of the university’s governing bodies. Until the election of the first rector, he leads, represents, and acts on behalf of the university and carries out all necessary actions to commence its operations.  At the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto, we welcome the appointment of the acting rector and look forward to further cooperation with the university leadership and to jointly shaping a modern academic environment based on quality education, research excellence, and engagement with the local community.

We are confident that the public University of Novo mesto will make a significant contribution to the development of the region and to the strengthening of knowledge, innovation, and cooperation in the broader Slovenian context.
