The Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto welcomes yesterday’s decision by the government to transfer the founding rights of the previously private higher education institutions in Novo Mesto to the Republic of Slovenia. This action, for which the government has authorized Minister Dr. Igor Papič, fulfills the key conditions for the establishment of the first public university in the region.
For FIŠ, which has been operating as the main public pillar of higher education in Novo Mesto for many years, this decision represents a long-awaited consolidation of the academic space.
At FIŠ, we are delighted that the other institutions (FINI, FOŠ, and UNM) will be joining the public system. The establishment of a public university will bring stability and free education to students, and interdisciplinary integration of information sciences with engineering and organizational sciences to the economy.
