Yesterday, the University of Novo mesto welcomed its first rector with a ceremonial inauguration of Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič. The ceremony took place at the renovated Narodni dom in Novo mesto, which has thus also taken on a new role as the headquarters of the public University of Novo mesto.

Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič, who previously served as dean of the Faculty of Information Studies, formally assumed leadership of the University of Novo mesto with the ceremonial presentation of the rector’s robe and began his four-year term.

We at the Faculty of Information Studies extend our sincere congratulations to him and wish him every success in leading the new public university and realising its vision for development. We believe that his many years of experience in higher education, research, and international cooperation will make a significant contribution to the further development of the University of Novo mesto.

The ceremony was attended by numerous representatives from the academic, business, and public sectors, including members of the FIS academic community.
