On 27 September 2024, the Faculty of Education, of the University of Ljubljana, hosted a ceremony to award the Green Flag (Zelena zastava) international environmental label. 14 new institutions – including kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and our faculty as an eco-faculty – joined the EcoSchool programme.
Each institution that joined the EcoSchool programme in the past school or academic year has successfully completed all the activities required to join the EcoSchool programme for the first time, following the seven steps. By receiving the international Green Flag environmental label, each institution has committed itself to sustainable action. The Green Flag of the EcoSchool Programme was awarded to the new EcoSchools and EcoFaculties by the National Coordinator of the EcoSchool Programme, Mag. Gregor Cerar and the representative of the Ministry of Education, Mišela Mavrič.
On behalf of our faculty, the Green Flag was received by the Dean, Prof. Ph.D. Matej Makarovič, and the coordinators of the EcoSchool programme at the faculty, Katja Uršič and Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Urška Fric.
FIŠ has also committed itself to sustainable action in the Eco Charter/Ekolistina, which outlines its activities and the path to sustainable development. The signatories of the Ekolistina are the Dean, Prof. Ph.D. Matej Makarovič, the coordinators of the Ekošola programme at FIŠ, Katja Uršič and Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Urška Fric, the Mayor of the Municipality of Novo mesto, mag. Gregor Macedoni and the national coordinator of the EcoSchool for Faculties / FEE Eco-Campus programme, Lucija Marovt.
The signing of the Ekolistina was hosted by the Municipality of Novo mesto on 25 September 2024.
At the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto we are proud of the Green Flag, as it is both a reward for the work done and an incentive for all further activities in the field of sustainable development and thus socially responsible behaviour.
