On 18 and 19 March 2025, the Faculty of Information Studies (FIŠ), in cooperation with the School of Advanced Social Studies (FUDŠ), organised the traditional Winter Camp FIŠ and FUDŠ—an educational gathering for staff and external collaborators of both faculties. The event offered a diverse selection of expert lectures, panel discussions, and workshops aimed at sharing knowledge exchange and strengthening collaboration among participants.
The camp, held both live at the faculty and online, was officially opened with keynote addresses by the deans of both faculties, Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič (FIŠ) and Prof. Dr. Borut Rončević (FUDŠ). This was followed by two sessions under the Jean Monnet framework. The first workshop was dedicated to the role of innovation in implementing major EU strategies, while the second section offered a panel discussion on European Industry 5.0.
Later, under the NOO Pilots Advanced Computing Skills project, renowned creative expert, lecturer, and author Aljoša Bagola captivated the audience with a lecture on personal well-being and effective communication. The first day’s activities concluded with a talk by Assist. Prof. Dr. Klavdija Zorec, who discussed learning outcomes as a key factor for improving teaching and learning processes.
The second day continued with Jean Monnet topics, focusing on challenges in international development cooperation and humanitarian aid in the current geopolitical context, as well as European rural development and the role of empowered leaders. Instr. Dr. Andrej Omulec also shared his insights on workplace well-being, emotional interaction, and burnout prevention strategies.
This was followed by a panel discussion on artificial intelligence, exploring its role as a tool, a research subject, and a challenge in terms of ethics and inappropriate practices. The two-day event concluded with a lecture by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matjaž Škabar on financial literacy, focusing on the real estate market.
The Winter Camp FIŠ and FUDŠ 2025 once again demonstrated the importance of such gatherings in strengthening academic and professional dialogue and fostering knowledge exchange, which contributes to the further development and collaboration of both institutions.
