Project Description:

The Jean Monnet Chair IC4EU addresses the latest trends, insights, and developments in the field of European Industry 5.0 and inclusive communities. We are committed to advancing and testing innovative educational approaches and materials, which serve as a mechanism for implementing the European Industry 5.0 approach and enhancing its global impact. By emphasizing the role of European internal cohesion and with the aspiration for the EU to take a leading role in the global sustainable economy, we will foster dialogue and cooperation between the academic world and relevant societal actors such as policymakers, businesses, and civil society. The Jean Monnet Chair IC4EU is dedicated to creating a vibrant community where innovative ideas are shared, and new knowledge is cultivated.

The Jean Monnet Chair IC4EU views European industry as a multidimensional concept that provides social well-being beyond mere economic growth and linear development. It stems from the needs highlighted in the document “Industry 5.0 – Towards a Sustainable, Human-Centric, and Resilient European Industry” (2021) and responds to the pressing issue emphasized by the European Directorate-General for Research and Innovation: how to enable the acceleration of the twin green and digital transitions, leading to a more sustainable and resilient society and economy – with industry being one of the key drivers of this dual transition.

The project objectives are as follows:

  • Creating knowledge and insights that can support EU policy-making and strengthen the role of the EU in the globalized world through innovative teaching approaches
  • Promoting high-quality teaching and research in European studies
  • The Chair will encourage, advise, and mentor young generations of teachers and researchers in the fields of EU studies
  • Promoting dialogue between the academic world and society, including policymakers at local and national levels, public servants, and civil society actors.
