On Thursday, 14 March 2024 and Friday, 15 March 2024, the Faculty of Information Studies (FIŠ) and the Faculty of Applied Social Studies (FUDŠ) held their traditional Winter Camp for employees and external collaborators of both faculties.

The two-day event offered a wide range of activities. The first day, Thursday 14 March 2024, was dedicated to the virtual activities of the Jean Monnet Thematic Section and was conducted entirely online. Prof. Dr. Matevž Tomšič moderated the event “Media, Populism and Political Stability in the European Union” and hosted the panellists Dr. Milan Zver (EP), Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič (FIŠ/FUDŠ) and Uroš Urbania (Planet TV). This was followed by the session “Technological Advances within a Sustainable Industry 4.0 in the EU”, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erika Džajić Uršič. Invited discussants were Prof. Dr. Vassili Kirov (Institute of Psychology and Sociology, Bulgaria) and Filip Škoda, (Uprise, Croatia).

The moderator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cristian Gangaliuc, discussed with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maruša Gorišek (IRSA) on “Technological Innovation Communities 2030 – Urban Centres, Development, Competitiveness”. Dr. Janja Mikulan moderated the event “Radicalisation and Resilience of Communities and the Role of the EU” with guest assistant Manca Koren, Albert Černigoj and Dr. Andrej Omulec.

Kseniia Gromova finished the first day with the title “Technology and Innovation for the 2030 Agenda – EU Global Leadership (TIA2030) Grand Strategies and their Implementation” with the panellists Prof. Dr. Žiga Turk and Prof. Dr. Nikolai Genov.

On the second day, Friday, 15 March 2024, the Winter Camp was held live at the FUDŠ premises in Ljubljana and via web link. After the opening speeches of the Dean of FIŠ, Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič and the Vice-Dean for Scientific and Research Work of FIŠ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamara Besednjak Valič, we listened to the lecture of Tadej Cunder on “Measures to prevent violence against students and employees at the Faculty”. This was followed by a practical demonstration of self-defence. Associate Prof. Dr. Matjaž Škabar presented “Personal Finance and Investments”.
