On 15 April 2025, the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto (FIŠ) hosted the first part of its strategic conference, aimed at defining the key development directions and goals of the faculty for the period 2026–2030. The event was held in a hybrid format—at the faculty’s premises and online via Zoom—and was attended by 51 participants from academia, business, public administration, students and other stakeholders.
The conference began with the formulation of the methodological framework and analytical foundations. This was followed by a discussion on the mission, vision, and core values of the faculty—truth, excellence, freedom and responsibility—as the guiding principles of FIŠ’s academic and research activities in the years ahead.
On hte basis of this groundwork, participants actively contributed to the development of key strategic foundations, which will enable the formulation of strategic development directions of our faculty for the years to come. Central themes included providing high-quality, internationally oriented education; the use of artificial intelligence for the development of human potential; strengthening the transparency and accessibility of research; promoting cooperation at all levels; and contributing responsibly to a sustainable, inclusive and secure society.
The final part of the first session focused on defining content priorities for the development of study programmes through to 2030, with special attention to responsiveness to technological change, labour market trends, and societal needs.
With the successful completion of the first phase of the strategic conference we have laid a solid foundation for continued development and consolidation of the FIŠ’s role as a modern, open, and internationally comparable academic institution.
The second phase of the strategic discussion will take place in the second half of the year, when we will continue with the formulation of concrete objectives, indicators, and measures for implementing the faculty’s priorities from 2026 to 2030.
