At the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto, the 34th session of the Academic Assembly of FIŠ was held on Thursday, 11 September 2025, chaired by the President of the Assembly, Prof. Dr. Biljana Mileva Boshkoska. In his opening address, Dean Prof. Dr. Matej Makarovič presented the progress in establishing the new public university and optimistically announced that the academic year 2026/2027 could already commence under its framework. He also informed the participants about the adoption of the new Higher Education Act, which, however, will not affect the current academic year.
An important part of the session was the presentation of the results of the survey on the organisational climate and employee satisfaction at FIŠ for 2024, prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Klavdija Zorec, Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuša Erman. The analysis shed light on the level of employee satisfaction and indicated starting points for further improvements.
Vice-Dean for Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Urška Fric, presented the implementation of the 2025/2026 academic year, focusing mainly on the novelties and the most important guidelines for lecturers and teaching staff.
The event was given particular academic weight by the professional trainings conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Klavdija Zorec, a researcher in the field of educational psychology, who, within the framework of the Centre for the Development of Pedagogical Competences of Higher Education Teachers and Staff, prepared and delivered training aimed at strengthening knowledge and skills in the field of inclusive education. Special attention was devoted to supporting students with hearing and visual impairments. In addition, she conducted a didactic training focused on active learning and small-group work.
Furthermore, the members of the Academic Assembly were informed about the novelties in the library, which will provide greater accessibility to databases and the possibility of free publication in selected journals. Jani Pogačar from the IT services delivered a training session on the use of videoconferencing tools (Polycom, Clevertouch, Zoom, Moodle), which will continue to support the hybrid form of study.
