The lecture will be held in English.
Summary:
Explainable Decision Making: Bridging the Gap Between Experts and Big Data in a Digital World
Traditional decision-making models relied heavily on incorporating expert knowledge into algorithms. However, in our rapidly evolving, digitally transforming society, acquiring expert knowledge in fast-developing fields can be challenging. This often leads us to supplement expert knowledge by extracting insights from available big data. However, our big data can reflect and perpetuate existing socio-economical biases, a fact that can have a significan tnegative effect on our society.
My research focuses on addressing this challenge by building explainable decision models that leverage both expert knowledge and big data. These models have seen successful applications in various fields, including education, labor market analysis, and detecting extemism.
In my presentation, I will showcase a range of decision models, spanning from simple expert-based systems to those using the latest large language models. Throughout, I will emphasize the importance of explainability in the decision-making process, ensuring transparency and building trust in outcomes.
