Study Abroad
The Call for Student Exchange for the Purpose of Studying (SMS) for the academic year 2024/2025 has been published. You can find the application form here. The application deadline is 31 Oktober 2024. In the event that fewer applications are received than the number of advertised spots, FIS will accept additional applications until the spots are filled or the funds are used up.
The ERASMUS+ programme enables the student to complete part of the full-time study obligations at any level / cycle of study at a partner institution abroad instead of at the home institution. Partner institutions are those institutions with which the faculty has signed an ERASMUS+ bilateral agreement on student exchange for a specific academic year.
The study in a partner institution may last from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months unless otherwise concluded by agreements or rules adopted by the FIS Senate. A partner institution abroad may not charge exchange students under the ERASMUS+ programme for tuition, enrolment fees, exams, library registration, use of laboratories or the like. FIS students can apply for co-financing of ERASMUS+ study mobility abroad by mailing or bringing the completed form to FIS.
The number of available spots, the amount of the monthly grant and the number of approved months of grants per individual student change every year and depend on the amount of funds approved by the National Agency (CMEPIUS).
Conditions for international study exchange
Students who meet the basic conditions for obtaining the status of an “ERASMUS+ student”, which are determined by the programme, may apply for the exchange:
- You must be a citizen of one of the countries participating in the ERASMUS+ programme or a citizen of another country while you are enrolled in a higher education institution in a participating country if meeting the conditions set by each participating country and taking into account the characteristics of the programme;
- While studying abroad, you must have the active status of a student at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto;
- You have completed at least the first year of the first level of study when applying to mobility with the purpose of study;
- Other conditions set out in the individual tender are met.
Recognition of study obligations
Your obligations abroad are recognized in accordance with the rules when choosing elective and some obligatory exams, depending on the chosen programme. Prior to the exchange, it is, therefore, necessary to coordinate your obligations abroad with the recognition of obligations at the faculty. For this purpose, we have an office for international exchange, where we create your exchange plan together. Students must return the ERASMUS+ scholarship in the event that they fail to fulfil the agreed-upon obligations when abroad. More information on ERASMUS+ can be found here.
Online Linguistic Support (OLS)
ERASMUS+ students have to opportunity to use the EACEA Online Linguistic Support during their exchange. You can see the OLS presentation here.
By signing the grant agreement, the mobility participants undertake to sit for an OSL exam (before and at the end of the mobility period) and to follow the OLS language course, if assigned. FIS ensures the use of licences and strives to the best of its ability to ensure that the selected participants use all assigned licences. Beneficiaries follow the OLS instructions provided by the service provider.
Read more about OLS in the programme presentation, knowledge assessment presentation and the language courses descriptions.
