On Tuesday, 15 October 2024, we donated twelve computers to Primary School Loka Črnomelj in response to a request made by the school in June 2024 to upgrade its computer equipment. The donation is an important step towards improving the digital competences of the pupils, who will thus have more opportunities to access modern educational technologies.
The handover ceremony took place at the Faculty’s premises. The event was attended by our representatives and the headmaster of the Primary School Loka Črnomelj, Boštjan Papež, who thanked for the important support in achieving the school’s strategic goal, which will further improve the learning process and make the use of information technology more accessible to students.
An important response to a school’s request
In June 2024, Primary School Loka Črnomelj published a request for help to upgrade its computer equipment, as the school is facing increasing needs for modern technological solutions. As we are the first eco-faculty in South-eastern Slovenia, we quickly responded to the request and worked with the school to create a donation. This will provide students with better conditions to develop digital skills, which are crucial for success in modern society.
The Dean of FIŠ, Prof. Ph.D. Matej Makarovič, said at the handover ceremony: “The development of digital skills is the foundation of future generations. Our Faculty is committed to contributing to the digital transformation in educational institutions, and we are pleased to support Primary School Loka Črnomelj in their efforts.” The representative of the “Ekošola” and FIŠ Vice-Dean for Education, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Urška Fric, added that FIŠ’s role as the first eco-faculty in South-eastern Slovenia is also important for sustainable development in education.
A donation for a better future
As the Primary School Loka Črnomelj opens the doors to its new school, they are faced with the need to continuously upgrade their digital learning tools. Our donation is therefore crucial for their pupils, as the updated equipment will provide better conditions for learning and mastering digital challenges. Principal Papež pointed out that this contribution is important for the future and success of their students in the field of IT.
