Dekan Fakultete za informacijske študije, profesor na FIŠ in Fakulteti za uporabne družbene študije v Novi Gorici, Jean Monnet Chair na področju evropskega transnacionalnega upravljanja za trajnostni razvoj.

Diplomiral je iz sociologije leta 1993, nato pa nadaljeval z magistrskim študijem na Central European University s pomočjo štipendije CEU in pridobil magistrski naziv z Lancaster University, Velika Britanija. Doktoriral je na področju sociologije na Univerzi v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za družbene vede (1999).

Raziskovalno je med drugim deloval na Waterford Institute of Technology (Irska, 2011) in na Univerzi v Nevadi, Reno (2012). Bil je gostujoči predavatelj na University of Cincinnati (ZDA, 2015), American University of Beirut (Libanon, 2016, 2017), University of Hawaii at Manoa (ZDA, 2016, 2018 in 2019), Metropolitan University (Czech Republic, 2017), Lebanese American University (Lebanon, 2018) in Babeș-Bolyai University (Romunija 2019).

Od leta 2012 je predsednik Nacionalnega odbora za upravljanje z družbenimi spremembami (MOST) pri Slovenski nacionalni komisiji za UNESCO. Je so-predsednik Raziskovalne mreže 36 (Sociologija transformacij) v okviru Evropskega sociološkega združenja.

Dean of the Faculty of Information Studies, Professor at FIS and at the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica (SASS) and Jean Monnet Chair in the field of European transnational governance and sustainable development.

He got his BA degree sociology in 1993, continued his graduate studies at the Central European University based on the stipend by the CEU and obtained his MA degree in the field of sociology and politics in 1995 at the Lancaster University, Great Britain. He got his PhD from sociology (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, 1999).

He was a research fellow at the Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland (2011) and at the University of Nevada, Reno (2012). He was also a guest lecturer at the University of Cincinnati (USA, 2015), American University of Beirut (Lebanon, 2016, 2017), University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA, 2016 and 2018), Metropolitan University (Czech Republic, 2017), Lebanese American University (Lebanon, 2018) and Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania 2019).

From 2012, he has been the president of the National Committee for the Management of Social Transformations (MOST) at the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO. He is a co-chair of the Research Network 36 (Sociology of Transformations) within the European Sociological Association.
